Adventures in Southeast Asia

Several months ago, after we bought our airfare, I started looking through the AirBnB experiences listed to see if there was anything offered that we might like to do for a day.  I found Bali Private Customized Full-Day Tours hosted by Jeko and yesterday we were not disappointed! The day before our tour I received a text from our guide, Yande, saying that he wanted to pick us up half an hour earlier than our originally scheduled 5am because he was worried about the wait time at our first stop, Heaven's Gate at Lempuyang Temple .  Despite this meaning he would need to leave home around 3am to get to our villa to pick us up, it was clear from moment one that his priority was our total enjoyment for the day. We got up at 4am and were on the road by about 4:40 (you know we can't ever be on time for anything!).  It's about a two and half hour drive from our villa out to where Heaven's Gate is.  This is one of the most famous sites for people to take pictures in Bali....

So last we spoke, we were leaving Yogyakarta and heading to Bali.  The flight was less than an hour and a half.  We landed and the captain seemed to park the plane in the economy parking section because we deplaned and walked across an active tarmac.  Like, there were planes taxiing, taking off and landing around us.  It was a pretty new scene for me, but I'm so damn excited to be in Bali, ticking off a location on my bucket list, that the taxiing planes didn't even faze me. That red plane out in the distance is our plane, parked in economy...lol This portion of our trip has a decidedly different feel.  Even though we got to do some fun, touristy things in Yogya, Bali is and was always meant to be the holiday portion of this trip.  From our arrival in Bali, with a driver holding a sign with our name to our private villa with personal dipping pool and indoor/outdoor living space, we are definitely living our best life right now. ...
